1. APP, OPERATOR AND PRIVACY CONTACT
This Privacy Policy applies to the Moriston Food Market Android application ("the App"), made available under the legal business identity MORISTON FOOD MARKET LTD, United Kingdom.
2. WHAT THE APP DOES
Moriston Food Market provides a browsable grocery catalogue with reference UK prices, product details, search and category filtering, favourites, a basket, and a shopping-list organiser. You may name, save, revisit, reuse or delete a shopping list. The App does not transmit purchase orders to a store, reserve groceries, process payments or deliver goods.
3. INFORMATION YOU PROVIDE OR GENERATE
The App processes the following information to provide the stated functions:
(a) Basket selections — product identifiers, chosen items and quantities. You choose these by adding groceries to your basket. This information is used to display basket contents and calculate a guide total. No personal name, email or address is required.
(b) Saved shopping-list title — required ONLY when you choose to save a shopping list. You enter a title (maximum 100 characters) to identify the list later. It is stored with the list.
(c) Saved shopping-list notes — optional text you choose to type (maximum 800 characters). It is stored with the list so you can remember your own shopping instructions or preferences. Do not include sensitive information you do not want stored on your device.
(d) Saved shopping-list items — the product identifiers, quantities and automatically calculated guide total associated with your list. This allows you to see and reuse the list. The App stores the chosen items and quantities; the guide total is recalculated from its embedded product data when needed.
(e) Saved-list creation time and an internal random list identifier — automatically generated to organise and display saved lists. These are not account IDs or externally issued order numbers.
(f) Favourites — product identifiers that you mark as favourites, used to show your favourites screen.
(g) Recently viewed products — identifiers of products you open, kept for a recently viewed section (limited to the latest 12 products in this version).
(h) Search terms, category selections, sort order and unfinished form text — processed temporarily to display your current view and may be retained during Android screen state restoration, but are not intentionally saved as long-term records in the App's SharedPreferences store.
The App does NOT ask you to enter a customer account password, full name, home/delivery address, telephone number or card/bank payment information. No account registration is offered.
4. HOW AND WHERE THE INFORMATION IS STORED
Basket contents, favourites, recent product IDs, saved-list titles, optional notes, selected items and list creation times are retained in the App's private on-device storage, using Android SharedPreferences. The App has no developer-operated backend, cloud database or ordering API and does not upload these records to MORISTON FOOD MARKET LTD. The device's app sandbox provides operating-system access controls. This version does not claim a dedicated custom encryption system for these preferences.
The Android manifest does not request the INTERNET permission; network access is not needed for the supplied grocery catalogue.
5. WHEN INFORMATION LEAVES THE APP
Shopping-list and basket information is not transmitted by this version. If you select Contact Us > Open email app, Android attempts to open an email application addressed to dev@moristonfoodmarket.store. Nothing is sent automatically. If you write and send an email, the recipient will receive the information you decide to include (for example your email address, sender name, message and attachments), and the sending/receiving email service will handle that communication under its own privacy terms. The App does not automatically attach your shopping lists. If no compatible email application is available, the contact email may be copied to your clipboard as a fallback.
The App does not embed analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs, Firebase, user authentication, or third-party shopping/order APIs. It does not share on-device shopping-list information with advertisers, data brokers or service providers.
6. DEVICE ACCESS AND PERMISSIONS
This version does not request camera, microphone, location, contacts, photos, external media/files, or Bluetooth permissions. It does not perform location tracking or background location collection. The App uses built-in local storage and Android's optional system intent for composing an email. It does not read your inbox or send mail directly.
7. RETENTION AND DELETION
The locally stored basket, favourites, recently viewed products and saved shopping lists remain on your device until you delete an individual saved list, remove products from your basket/favourites, select More > Clear my app data, clear the App's storage through Android Settings or uninstall the App. Deleting a saved list removes its locally stored title, notes, items and creation time. More > Clear my app data removes retained basket entries, favourites, recently viewed items and all saved lists. The App is configured with Android backup disabled in its manifest.
Since the App does not operate personal accounts or a central list database, there is no online account record or remote shopping-list copy to delete. If you separately send an email to the privacy contact, request deletion of that correspondence by contacting the same address, subject to applicable legal retention obligations.
8. CHILDREN AND DATA MINIMISATION
The App is intended as a general grocery-list utility and is not designed to gather information about children. Please avoid including sensitive personal information in shopping-list titles or optional notes. The App requests only the text and selections necessary for its shopping-list features.
9. YOUR CHOICES
You may use the browse/search features without giving a personal name, telephone number or email address. Saving a list is optional; if you save one, a title is required and notes remain optional. You can remove retained App data through the controls described above. For questions about access to information you sent separately by email, contact the privacy address.
10. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
If the App adds real ordering, delivery, accounts, analytics, external services, payments or other data processing, this Privacy Policy must be updated to describe those changes before release. The updated effective date will be shown in the publicly posted notice.
